So glad you asked. Meat Fight is dedicated to helping people living with multiple sclerosis stay active while supporting research for a cure.
We started in 2010 as a backyard BBQ competition in Dallas. Since then, Meat Fight, Inc. has become a 501c3 nonprofit, raised over $2 million for the National MS Society, and developed programs both to assist research and to support athletes across the nation living with MS in endurance efforts like cycling events, marathons, triathlons and more.
Meat Fight donates bikes to people living with MS. Each bike package costs $1,000, and the funds from our events help provide the equipment for Meat Bike athletes with MS to succeed in endurance challenges like the Dallas Marathon and the Text 70.3 (half Ironman). We go beyond bikes, too –Meat Fight also offers athletes with MS hikes into the Grand Canyon.
We also have an MS Research endowment with UT Southwestern. We even have a Meat Fight Fellowship, and we send BBQ to our new fellow every year.
We’re committed to helping fight MS through “funlanthropy.”

James Beard award-winning writer, Alice Laussade, will write your obituary. "You're going to need it. You might as well let me write it for you now, so it's ready." Some of it will be true. Some of it won't be true. OK-- none of it will be true. Alice will sit with you at lunch at Slow Bone BBQ, and you'll talk through what you'd like her to highlight from your life. She'll then send you an obituary that has been gloriously framed by Vinyard Frame Designs, so that it's easy to find when you need it.
